I am also from the UK and understand your dilemma. Spare parts are not easy to find especially for the older type of Rivarossi Locomotives even in Italy. I am sure you have seen my requests on the Rivarossi Memory posting. I continue to wait patiently and that the spares I need might materialise!!
Other than the brilliant help you have had from Gabriel and the other Italian friends I suggest you visit the English eBay - Trains Railway Models then Rivarossi. There have been a few damaged Royal Scot locos recently, which were reasonably priced and which would have been ideal for spares. Should I say you are not on your own regarding the drive shaft component that you are looking for. I have two Royal Scot Locomotives which are in mint condition however when removing them from the storage cabinet I take care not to allow the tender to articulate or tip downwards away from the loco. If the excessive movement does occur it will over stress the plastic shaft, resulting in breakages. I thought it best to tell you once you acquire a new part.
The other thing I want to mention is regarding the American eBay you can find this by AHM-Rivarossi. However, be warned, there have been numerious spares, on the American web should I say "in abundance" if you do purchase anything get a quote for shipping before you buy. I was nearly caught out by this. The shipping charges for a very small component were absolutely astronomical. I eventually declined from purhasing the part.
Finally, if you wish to take the dimensions you have been given by Giorgio, detailed on the small sketch to a model maker a machined item in aluminium would be an alternative to plastic.

Io sono anche dal Regno Unito e comprendere il dilemma. Pezzi di ricambio non sono facili da trovare soprattutto per il tipo più anziane di locomotive Rivarossi anche in Italia. Sono certo che avete visto le mie richieste della memoria Rivarossi distacco. Continuo ad aspettare con pazienza e che i pezzi di ricambio necessario potrebbe concretizzarsi!!

Ci sono state che poche scozzese Royal danneggiato locos recentemente, che sono state ragionevolmente a prezzo e che sarebbe stato ideale per pezzi di ricambio.
